Derek Donohoe
Derek Donohoe is a partner with the Audit, Advisory & Assurance & Advisory department in RSM Farrell Grant Sparks. He is Head of Financial Services, providing a full range of audit, accounting and assurance services to the financial services sector, including brokers, funds, investment managers, pension funds and lease finance providers.
Working with other specialists within our firm, Derek co-ordinates services to the financial services sector such as tax, forensic accounting, corporate finance and corporate recovery services.
Possessing strong analytical skills, he is ideally qualified to understand and to respond to the real needs of clients.
Audit and assurance services
Derek has over 30 years’ experience in the provision of audit and assurance services to clients. He has provided assurance services to a wide range of clients including private and corporate investors, banks, trade unions, government departments and public sector agencies.
He has particular expertise in the provision of financial and commercial due diligence reviews, forensic accounting and expert witness reports, company and share valuations, corporate governance and in technical accounting and auditing matters.
Derek is a founder member of the RSM International Financial Services Group, which was established with the goal of sharing global best practice within the worldwide network and to develop RSM’s reputation and business in the financial services sector. The ultimate focus of the group is to provide quality services to clients operating in a number of international locations in the financial services sector.
Forensic accounting
Derek is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and also holds a Diploma in Forensic Accounting.
As an Accredited Mediator with Mediation Forum Ireland, he facilitates parties in commercial disputes to resolve matters without recourse to legal action. He is a member of the Technical Committee of the Irish Funds Industry Association and a non-executive director of an Irish charity.
Prior to joining RSM Farrell Grant Sparks, Derek gained experience in Ireland and Australia with an international accounting firm, provided financial control services to a multi-branch retail firm and worked with the IDA. Derek joined our firm in 1994 and is located at our Dublin office.
