John Lyons leads the tax team at our Longford office. He is a Chartered Accountant (FCA). With 30 years’ experience in general practice, he works with our clients in a wide range of sectors including property, manufacturing, retail and professional services.
John specialises in group restructuring, and also advises many legal practices on capital gains tax, capital acquisitions tax and estate administration.
John offers strategic advice to RSM Farrell Grant Sparks clients on a wide range of taxes, with particular expertise in property taxes. He advises business owners on taxation, finance and personal financial planning.
Over the years, John has assisted Irish family businesses to restructure their operations to allow bank borrowings to be serviced in a tax efficient manner from business cash flows.
There is increased interest in direct equity investment in growing businesses in the present environment. John designs tax structures that maximise potential returns for investors and management, including advising on:
John has served on the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies – Ireland and TALC (Tax Advisory Liaison Committee) committees.
A graduate of University College Galway, he trained with KPMG Dublin and was a founding partner in 1984 of Lyons Keenan Kilemade, Chartered Accountants, in Longford. John became a Partner in our firm in 2006, following our merger with Lyons Keenan Kilemade. He is a regular contributor to the media on tax and economic issues.
